Introduction

Hi Everyone!

I am so excited to be involved in the world of Regent's blog community. I am brand new to Regent, but decided to attend the online program because of my CrAzY work schedule, and because secular University started to wear me down... it becomes difficult to try to use all my mental-power for school and apologetics on a constant basis (LONG story, perhaps I'll share that one day).

Anyway, I decided to come to a place where I could feed my brain, my heart and soul all at once! YAY! (Luckily after a long search Regent begins offering the English degree - Praise the Lord for His perfect timing)

I am an English student here, and I transferred from Youngstown State University (what, where?!?) in Ohio.

I am heavily involved with the youth of my church... I also occasionally lead worship and teach Sunday School. I love it!

I work for a bank - and am in the training department as a training specialist on the sales side of things. (everyone's a sales-person for something). I am moving toward becoming an instructional designer - hence the English degree.

In my spare time, I love to watch Nickelodeon and Disney channel (they de-stress me), read, and I'm a big movie buff (but I have standards - so I may not watch a lot of movies that others will...it's a personal conviction). My all time favorite movie is "12 Angry Men," but I love Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I just recently read the book so I could see if the original (Willy Wonka with Gene Wilder) or the new version (Charlie with Johnny Depp) was more accurate... (DRUMROLL)... the newer one is more closely related to the Roald Dahl book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." (I know, your life wouldn't be complete without that useless piece of trivia).

You know what I would love more than anything?!?!?!? Those of you who have attended and are attending Regent, what do you think of it?

  • What are the major benefits of attending school here?
  • What are some of the opportunities for improvement? How do I overcome these??
  • Do you have any tips for me - the new kid?

I would love if anyone could share - especially those who are involved in the online degree program...

Well, I welcome any comments or suggestions... I hope to meet you soon. (you know what I mean)

Thanks!

You have to go into your account settings and at the top somewhere above all of the choices below on the left that you can change there will be a link, i believe in red, that will say, cancel account. You will then get a confirmation email asking you if you are sure and the only way to delete it is to make sure you do whatever the cancellation email tells you to do. I hop that helps! :)

Hello newby! :-) It great to have you at Regent. I am an online student and I LOVE IT! It is hard work being an onine student due to all the writing and having to be very attentive to the post dates and deadlines. If you cna get you a really good calendar to help you keep track or use the Regent one that will help a lot. I use G Mail calendars so I can share them with my husband and family so they know when my stuff is due and if I am in stress mode they check the calendar to find out why. :-)

Also a good tip is to really stay in close touch with your online professor. If not you may be easily forgotten as they do not have faces to go with the names they see on emails and post. Drop them a thank you note here and there just to let them know you are ALIVE on the other end of the computer. ALWAYS attend any virtual sessions in the tools area of Bb.

You are well on your way. Glad you are at a school that will help you focus on your love for God. ME TOO!

Hi Tarisha!
I am not so new to Regent, but this is my first blog experience. Maybe we can trade information!
My biggest advise to you is to write everything in a Word document first. Make sure to use spelling/grammar check and then proofread it at least once. Then you can copy and paste it into blackboard discussions with less concern for mistakes. Oh, and be aware - not all professors allow editing the post after it is submitted. I always ask these professors to unlock it so we can at least edit once in case I miss something.
I think I get to know my classmates better online because there are no "wallflowers" in Blackboard. EVERYONE is REQUIRED to participate. Plus, it is less intimidating to share what you REALLY think when no one is look at you.
Have you taken any classes yet? Bev is right about it being hard work. I have very little social life during school. But the up side is I can roll out of bed and go to class in my PJ's! ...at 7 AM, 5 PM, or midnight. It's GREAT! =P
